Dad woke us ‘fore the sun rose to get us ready to go

Dad stood atop the bank, watched every cast

Every knot we tied, every lure we tried, this meant more than we’d know
Every’ time dad took us fishing, he was watching his young sons grow

Sometimes Dad’d take us to the campground, drop a rowboat in the lake
We’d be Leanin’ over the edge, watching fish try steal our bait
We’d catch a few, lose a few, but what we didn’t know
Years from then we’d look back and wonder where the those times with dad did go
